BAGHDAD (AP) – The U.S. military says it has captured 18 suspects in raids against al-Qaeda in Iraq.
The military says it detained the suspects Thursday and Friday.
A military statement says those captured include four suspects in the northern city of Kirkuk. The suspects are allegedly associated with a regional al-Qaeda in Iraq leader.
Another suspected al-Qaeda operator was detained in Sulaiman Bek, 100 miles (170 kilometers) north of Baghdad.
The suspect is believed to have had a role in roadside bomb attacks.
