MADRID, Spain, (AP) – Spanish officials say police have arrested eight suspected members of an Islamic extremist cell.

The Interior Ministry announced the arrests Tuesday but gave no other details.

Spanish National Radio and news agencies say the suspects were arrested in Barcelona, Pamplona and the eastern city of Castellon. The Europa Press news agency says the detainees are suspected of raising money for terrorist activities.
