Baghdad-Insurgents continued a string of attacks Saturday against Iraqi police and civilians, leaving at least six dead, The Associated Press reported.
Three Fallujah police officers were found fatally shot in the nearby town of Karma, 10 kilometers (6 miles) east of Falluja on Saturday, said police 1st Lt. Mohammed Ibrahim from Fallujah.
The victims _ identified as 1st Lt. Mahir al Dulaimi, Lt.
Ali Abdullah and Sgt. Aziz Jehanhad _ had traveled to Karma
three days ago and their families lost contact with them,
he said.
In Baghdad, unknown gunmen traveling in two cars opened
fire and killed a Ministry of Interior police employee
Friday night, police Capt. Mohammed al-Obeidi said
Saturday. Lt. Col. Abdul Qadir Wahab was killed in his car
on his way home, he said.
In separate attacks, gunmen ambushed several Iraqi police
patrols throughout Baghdad Saturday, injuring three
officers, police said.
The morning attacks occ
urred in the eastern neighborhood
of New Baghdad, southern Dora and western Seidiyah, police
said.
A blindfolded, bullet-filled corpse of a man in his 50s
was found just outside Baghdad, said police Lt. Col Sabah
Hameed. The man had died some time ago, he said.
On Friday night, police discovered the body of the third
of three brothers abducted in northern Baghdad earlier this
week. Two corpses had already been found on Thursday,
according to 1st Lt. Thair Mahmoud Saturday. Two of the
brothers were police officers while the third was a Muslim
imam.
