Riyadh, Asharq Al-Awsat—King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz is in a stable condition after overcoming a lung infection, the Saudi royal court said on Friday.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud was admitted to a Riyadh hospital to undergo medical tests on Wednesday.

“After the necessary medical tests by the medical team, it became apparent that there was a lung infection that required the insertion of a tube to aid with breathing on a temporary basis this evening [Friday],” the royal court statement said according to the Saudi Press Agency.

“Praise be to Allah for his stability and success,” the announcement concluded.
