ANKARA, Turkey (AP) – Turkish Airlines says it will start flying to Baghdad next month, restoring a service to the Iraqi capital that was suspended when the 1991 Gulf War broke out.

Turkey’s state-run news agency Anatolia reported late Friday that the airline issued a statement saying the first flight will be Oct. 26. There will be three flights a week to Baghdad on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

Turkish Airlines officials were not immediately available to comment Saturday and the statement had not been posted on the company’s Web site.
