New Delhi, Asharq Al-Awsat-The government of Jammu and Kashmir has banned five foreign pornographic channels.

Blue Kiss, Blue Kiss Express, Blue Kiss Promo, TBL-XXX and Ren TV have been forbidden in the region, as “they are a threat to society and broadcast programs that are against public morality,” says the director general of the State Information Department, Kwaja Furook Ahmed Renzu.

All private channels and satellite operators have been ordered to stop the airing of these channels.

Since the increase in militant activities, several extremist groups have imposed a ban on foreign music and movie channels claming that they are against Islamic values and culture. Militants have attacked and killed several satellite operators that have not complied with this ruling.

A recent failed grenade attack in Srinagar aimed to destroy a private satellite operator, however there were no casualties following the attack.
