Iraqis in court for Terrorist Activities in Yemen - ASHARQ AL-AWSAT English Archive

Sanaa, Asharq Al-Awsat- Three Iraqi men appeared in a criminal court on Sunday suspected of forming a terrorist cell and planning to bomb the US and British embassies with the verdict expected to be announced on 11 th October 2005 .

Believed to be former army officers under Saddam Hussein, the men, pleaded with the court not to hand them over to the Iraqi authorities after being sentenced.

Member of the prosecution, Khaled al Mawri, claimed the men, “planned to bomb the embassies to undermine the diplomatic and international position of Yemen . The trial which began in August continues.
