JERUSALEM (AP) – Defense officials say Defense Minister Ehud Barak has instructed the military to prepare to destroy the homes of two Palestinians who carried out the two latest attacks against Jews in Jerusalem. They say the military will prepare demolition orders for the home of an east Jerusalem man who went on a rampage with a bulldozer on Wednesday, and for another east Jerusalem man who carried out a shooting attack on a religious seminary in March. Three people were killed in the attack on Wednesday, and eight died in the shooting attack in March.
House demolitions of this kind are a controversial measure. Critics say they don’t deter attacks and say the attackers’ families shouldn’t be punished for their relatives’ actions.
