Asharq Al Awsat to Publish Diaries of CNN International’s Hala Gorani

London, Asharq Al-Awsat- Asharq Al Awsat will exclusively publish the diaries of CNN International’s anchor and reporter Hala Gorani from July 2, 2006. The diaries will be published in Arabic and will relate to Gorani’s experiences as the presenter of ‘Inside the Middle East,’ CNN’s monthly report on economic, social and cultural aspects of the Middle East.

These on the field reports by Hala Gorani, who originates from Syria, will reveal the “story behind the story,” as she shares her experiences of on-location filming of CNN International’s ‘Inside the Middle East’ program.

‘Every month, the program looks at the social and cultural issues that are affecting the Middle East, giving CNN’s international viewers an insight into this fascinating region. We address topics that are not covered in daily news reports and present each show from a different Middle Eastern country,” said Hala Gorani.

“I am delighted that Asharq Al Awsat will publish my accounts that will be written following every shoot and in which I will share some of my experiences as a journalist working in the region,” added Gorani.

In addition to presenting ‘Inside the Middle East,’ Hala Gorani is a news anchor and correspondent for CNN International and has reported from all over the Middle East. She reported on Al Qaeda’s hotel bombings in the Jordanian capital, Amman, in November 2005, and covered the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia as well as the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza in August 2005.

Asharq Al Awsat will publish Gorani’s diaries as part of its ‘From the Field’ series, which is published in the weekly media supplement. The diaries will also be available on Asharq Al Awsat’s English language website.
