Arab television production union holds meeting in Cairo | ASHARQ AL-AWSAT English Archive 2005 -2017

CAIRO,(KUNA) — The meeting of the Union of Arab Television Productions has been held to prepare for the third union forum that is to be hosted by the Arab League in Cairo next September, said the union”s Assistant Secretary-General for GCC Affairs Yousef Al-Amiri.

Speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Amiri said that the meeting focused on issues to be discussed at the forum, including combat of terrorism, noting that the union has been accorded a seat in the Arab League and seeks one at the meetings of GCC information ministers.

Al-Amiri went on to say that the union is referred to and consulted by the Arab League for media-related advice as the union groups many field experts. He added that the union has prepared an awareness program for the combat of terrorism, noting that there are suggestions for holding workshops for youth in different Arab states on this issue.

On Kuwaiti and GCC productions, he said that further development is aspired to, adding that Arab media is in need of greater efforts in light of current challenges.
