ALGIERS, (Reuters) – Any move by OPEC as a group to abandon the dollar for oil pricing would require a meeting of the 13-member OPEC’s finance ministers, OPEC President Chakib Khelil said on Wednesday.
Khelil, who is also Algeria’s Energy and Mines Minister, added in brief remarks to reporters that Algeria had no immediate plans to shift.
“Algeria is not interested in any change from the dollar for the moment,” he said. “Any OPEC decision to change needs a meeting of finance ministers of OPEC.”
