Jeddah, – The Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry has become the first in the world to use electronic certification for its members.
The first two-dimensional bar code was attached to the file of the Arabian Food Supplies Company at 11 A.M. on Tuesday morning. The file was a document pertaining to an exit and re-entry visa for one of its employees.
This is one of the most important projects the Jeddah Chamber (of commerce and Industry) has ever done, said Muhy-Aldeen Al-Hakami, general director of the information and services division at the JCCI. "We are the first to use electronic certification in the entire world."
Hakami said that this process would make it easier for businessmen to process their JCCI-related documents, even if they were out of the kingdom. It will save them time, energy and money, he said.
In a report published today, Saudi Gazette said China will be the second country to use the system after Saudi Arabia.
