In a joint statement that Al-Tibabah Al-Shariyya (an organisation that documents and buries the bodies of the Syrian regime’s victims) and the charity Ansar Al-Madhloomeen issued yesterday, the two organisations appealed to the world to help residents of the Syrian city Aleppo bury their dead because they are running out of shrouds, body bags and graves as a result of the blockade and the bombing campaign carried out by the regime’s aircraft and Russian warplanes on the city and its suburbs in northern Syria.
The organisations identified their needs as follows: 1000 shrouds costing around $ 1,800, 1000 body bags to transport and protect dead bodies that have an estimated value of $ 6,500 and 200 graves to bury the victims of massacres and the dead that have an estimated value of $ 3,900.
The spokesman for the Syrian Network for Human Rights Wael Al-Aji told Asharq Al-Awsat that the statement issued by Al-Tibabah Al-Shariyya and Ansar Al-Madhloomeen is not far from reality, especially in light of the fact that Al-Castillo Street, which connects the opposition controlled areas in Aleppo to the suburbs of the city, is blocked.
