London- Iran denies receiving any official or clear message from the Gulf Cooperation Council, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Bahram Qasimi said. The announcement comes after Kuwait’s Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah having announced on Thursday that the State of Kuwait would relay a message to Iran from GCC member States.

Speaking to one of Iran’s major media outlets, ISNA, Qasimi said that none of the official or diplomatic channels received any message or a clear date from brothers at Kuwaiti authorities, adding that Tehran will be studying any presented proposal, taking its decision accordingly.

In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Jarallah said contacts were underway “with the Iranian brothers to set a proper date to deliver that message.” He however stopped short of elaborating on its contents.

Al-Jarallah, in December following the GCC summit hosted by Bahrain, declared that Kuwait had conveyed an identical message to Iran “expressing the GCC States’ view regarding the dialogue” with the Islamic Republic.

On the anticipated opening of a NATO bureau in Kuwait, he underscored significance of such a step, “which also signals the alliance concern for security of Kuwait and the region.” The NATO has proposed establishing a center in Kuwait, which has applauded the idea, he said, affirming the country’s readiness to open it soon.

NATO has expressed keenness on promoting the relationship with Kuwait. The office in Kuwait will be the first of its kind for the alliance abroad.

It will serve the country and regional states, with courses, seminars and workshops and aiding interns.

The planned bureau will be result of an initiative taken by Kuwait in 2011 to set it up in the country. It will be specialized for the Istanbul Initiative states.
