This National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) satellite image obtained July 8, 2014 and taken by MTSAT-2 at 0730Z on July 7, 2014 shows Super Typhoon Neoguri located south-southwest of Kadena Air Base, Okinawa. Powerful typhoon Neoguri lashed Japan’s southern Okinawa islands Tuesday, as over half a million people were forced to seek shelter, with the region’s worst storm in years downing trees and bringing air and sea traffic to a halt. The typhoon packed gusts of up to 216 kilometres (134 miles) per hour with torrential downpours, forcing the cancellation of hundreds of flights as authorities said at least one person had died and several were injured by the raging storm.
