Washington – Future First Lady Melania Trump and son Barron will not be moving to the White House after Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20.

The president-elect’s 46-year-old wife and their 10-year-old son Barron are staying put at the family’s Trump Tower penthouse so that he can continue attending his Upper West Side private school.

Trump’s transition team communications director Jason Miller told reporters that the parents are wary of pulling their son out of school now.

“There’s obviously sensitivity to pulling their 10-year-old out of school in the middle of the school year. A more formal statement will be coming in the future,” Miller said.

He was responding to a New York Post report that Melania Trump and her son will keep living in Trump Tower at least until the end of the school year so the boy can continue attending his private school.

According to a source, Melania Trump will travel to the White House as needed, but that her primary focus is on Barron.

“Melania is very supportive of her husband and is fully on board of doing everything that’s needed as first lady,” said a source, adding that there is a possibility that Melania and Barron may move to the White House at the end of the school year, but no plans are in place.

Trump, speaking to reporters in New Jersey, said “yes, White House” when asked if he was planning on moving into the presidential residence.

He was then asked whether his wife and son would be joining him there. “Very soon. After he’s finished with school,” Trump said.

U.S. presidents have lived in and worked at the White House since John Adams took up residence there in 1800.
