Pristina- London- Kosovo’s Prime Minister, on Sunday, confirmed that his brother Ragip Mustapha joined the mass of migrants who fled to EU countries last year.

A document published online revealed that Ragip Mustapha had applied seeking Asylum in Rhineland, western Germany on June 24, 2015.

His application came only days before Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel had received his brother, PM Isa Mustapha in Berlin.

PM Isa Mustafa wrote in a Facebook message, confirmed that the news spreading while stating that he was informed after everything had already happened. He also explained that his brother has filed for migration to seek medical assistance for an acute condition he is suffering and that has no cure in Kosovo.

Kosovo is one of the poorest European countries, and the only Balkans nation that is not included in the Schengen free travel zone of Europe.

PM Isa Mustafa confirmed that his brother Ragip wasn’t the only family member who illegally sought asylum in Europe.

Eurostat, European commission for statistics, shows that 70 thousand citizens of Kosovo had sought asylum over the past two years. With those figures, Kosovo ranked fourth after Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq for migrants leaving their countries.
