Aden- Algerian Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel received on Monday a telephone call from his Yemeni counterpart Abdulmalik al-Mekhlafi.

During the telephone conversation, the two parties discussed bilateral agreements and developments in Yemen and the region.

They also discussed Algeria’s stance on the crisis in Yemen that called for a solution through dialogue among Yemeni parties.

Mekhlafi stressed his government’s keenness to reach peace and work on achieving it using all means and with all Arab and international parties based on the three references that represent the core of the political solution in Yemen.

The situation in Yemen has become worse, especially in areas under the control of Houthi and Saleh militias, which led to the suffering of people, increasing rates of poverty and unemployment, spread of famine and spread of diseases and epidemics, including cholera, added Mekhlafi.

He explained that all these indicate that there is a humanitarian disaster which the Yemeni government is working overcome it.

“The Yemeni government praises the efforts exerted by UN Special Envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed,” Mekhlafi said.

For his part, Algerian Foreign Minister invited his Yemeni counterpart to visit Algeria, stressing his country’s continuous support for Yemen.
