SANAA (AFP) – Yemen said it was hunting for suspected members of Al-Qaeda said to be plotting new attacks, after two bombings in a matter of days against South Korean visitors.

The interior ministry is offering a reward to anyone who provides information about people “recruited by Al-Qaeda and preparing to commit acts of terror and sabotage in Yemen,” the official Saba news agency reported.

It appealed to the wanted men to surrender “before they commit acts which will harm the country’s security and stability,” and also warned those sheltering suspects that they would face prosecution.

A suicide bomber launched a failed attack on Wednesday against a delegation of South Koreans who were visiting Yemen following another bombing at a historic site that killed four of their compatriots and their Yemeni guide.

The Yemeni authorities have blamed the local branch of Al-Qaeda for the bombings, the latest in a string of attacks against foreign tourists, diplomatic missions and oil installations in the impoverished Arabian Peninsula state.
