Aden – Yemeni authorities announced they had begun deporting 220 illegal African immigrants, most of whom are Ethiopians residing in Aden. It is not clear whether the deportees are related to the dozens of African mercenaries brought in by Houthis.

A security official in Aden said that the immigrants were arrested during the last two weeks and transported to Somalia.

The official added that hundreds of immigrants arrived to South Yemen and about 500 African immigrants were arrested in Shabwah, east Aden.

In addition, Yemeni police arrested two gunmen who attacked al-Mansoura Central Prison.

Aden police issued a statement saying that the security forces arrested the two men after they attacked the prison and hurled hand grenades on the facility’s walls.

Police said security forces seized two vehicles used by the militants and arrested one of the drivers.

The statement also said that the prison guards engaged in clashes with the militants, injuring a number of them and killing a prison guard who succumbed to his wounds.

Minister of Communication Muammar al-Ariani said that life is gradually returning to normal in the temporary capital Aden.

Ariani praised the role of local authorities and the dedication of the citizens to rebuild what was destroyed during the war waged by Saleh and Houthi militias.

During his participation in the restructuring of the streets of Aden, Minister Ariani said that his contribution is part of a field campaign that will be conducted by all ministers who have returned to Aden.
