Riyadh, Asharq Al-Awsat – Leaders from across the world have congratulated Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz, on his appointment as Saudi Crown Prince.

US President Barack Obama congratulated Saudi Arabia on the appointment of Crown Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz. In a statement issued by the White House, Obama said “I congratulate King Abdullah and the Saudi people on the selection of Prince Naif as crown prince. We in the United States know and respect him for his strong commitment to combatting terrorism and supporting regional peace and security.”

He added that “the United States looks forward to continuing our close partnership with Crown Prince Naif in his new capacity as we strengthen the deep and longstanding friendship between the United States and Saudi Arabia.”

Crown Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is set to receive pledges of allegiance from Saudi Arabian citizens at Al-Hakam Palace in Riyadh today following midday prayers.

Crown Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz’s appointment as Saudi Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister was welcomed by Arab and international leaders and heads of state.

Sultan of Oman, Qaboos Bin Said al Said sent a cable congratulating Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz on his appointment as Saudi Crown Prince, wishing him good health and success in achieving further progress and prosperity for the people of Saudi Arabia.

Whilst Crown Prince Naif also received a telephone call from King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain yesterday, during which the Bahraini monarch congratulated him on his appointment and wished him every success in the performance of his duties. For his part, Crown Prince Naif expressed his thanks and appreciation to the King of Bahrain for his sincere feelings, and expressed his desire that the brotherly relations between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain continues to grow and prosper.

The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah also sent a cable congratulating Crown Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz on his appointment. He wished Crown Prince Naif lasting health and expressed his hope that he will be able to continue to serve his country and continue his renowned contribution’s to Saudi Arabia’s development and prosperity.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continues to receive congratulations on the appointment of Crown Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud from leaders across the world, as well as from governors and government ministers and officials from within the Kingdom itself.
