Fujairah, Riyadh- The UAE has mourned the death of Sheikh Hamad Bin Saif al-Sharqi, Deputy Ruler of Fujairah, who passed away on Wednesday.

President of the UAE Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan declared a three-day mourning period and ordered that flags be flown half-mast during this period.

In a statement, the Ministry of Presidential Affairs said that President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan mourned Sheikh Hamad Bin Saif al-Sharqi, praying to Allah that his soul rests in peace.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz expressed condolences to UAE President. In his cable to the president, King Salman prayed that Allah grants the president and the late Sheikh Hamad family patience.

King Salman also carried out phone calls with Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed al-Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, to offer condolences.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior, and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense, sent cables of condolences to the president of UAE.

Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammad al-Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, and Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, offered funeral prayers for Sheikh Hamad.
