London– The Defense Ministry said Monday that two British soldiers were killed in southern Iraq.

Iraqi police said that a British convoy was struck on Monday by a roadside bomb near the al-Zubeir area, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of Basra, killing the troops.

The names and ranks of the two soldiers weren”t immediately released.

Ministry spokesperson said, adding the pair were traveling in an armored Land Rover.

The deaths brought to 95 the number of British military personnel killed in Iraq, according to a count of The Associated Press.
