Kirkuk, SPA — Iraqi and U.S. troops have arrested 30 terrorist suspects, including nine foreigners, in the northern Iraqi town of Tazu Khurmatu, security sources confirmed, dpa reported.

Three of the foreign insurgents are reported to come from Syria, two from Jordan and four from Afghanistan, said dpa.

Security sources in the provincial capital Kirkuk, about 90 kilometres from Tazu Khurmatu, said the men were believed to have been members of a terrorist cell responsible for numerous murders and attacks but it was unclear if they were part of a larger terrorist organization.

Police are reported to have seized a large quantity of weapons during the arrest.
