Riyadh, Asharq Al-Awsat- Saudi schools this week begun a 7-day project to refute the takfir ideology and combat extremist thinking that has led to its supporters turning to youngsters and transforming them into time-bombs that threaten both internal and external security.

On Saturday, the Ministry of Education launched a number of security awareness programs at various schools in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. The week-long security program will include several lectures on culture and society intended for students and parents.

In a speech marking the occasion, the director of the Educational Supervision Center also in north Riyadh, Abdulaziz al Falih, stressed that security is the basis of success in all countries and that disputes and conflict would arise in states that lack security.

The project will entail several activities at various schools in Riyadh. Representatives from the field of education and members of security authorities are keen on attending such events to discuss security issues, the impact on citizens, and the intellectual significance of security and the duty of society towards the homeland and security authorities as well as to highlight incorrect social behavior.

Saudi Arabia has outlined an anti-terrorism strategy as part of its firm policy that constitutes the various underlying foundations and principles of the state—the protection of religion, lives, money, honor, minds, and bringing about the security of the state and society in accordance with Shariaa law, the application of which is provided for by the Saudi governing statute, and based on the principles of international law and the international, regional and bilateral agreements and treaties regarding the maintenance of security and order and fighting terrorism.
