Jeddah, Asharq Al-Awsat—The Saudi Royal Court has launched a new website to allow citizens to issue complaints about government services directly to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz. Set up on the directive of the King, the website will also allow Saudi citizens to apply to the government for medical assistance.

Khalel Al-Tuwaijiri, head of the Royal Court and King Abdullah’s private secretary, announced the launch of the website on Wednesday via Twitter, saying, “I am honored this morning to announce the launch of the special communication website between [Saudi] citizens and the royal court.”

His tweet announcing the launch of the site had more than 8,400 re-tweets as of Thursday afternoon, with many Saudis across the Kingdom welcoming the move.

Journalist @SalehAlzaid tweeted: We thank you for your efforts and ideas.” @Almos6180 described the move as a “wise step,” while @rawda_sa described the website as “excellent.”

A statement posted on the website affirmed that it had been set up on the express directive of the Saudi King to allow Saudi citizens easy access to all services provided by the state.

“People will be able to inform the king about any shortcomings in the services offered by government agencies and to take suitable action for the benefit of all citizens,” the statement added.

The website, called Tawasol (“Communication”), is in the beta phase and requires Saudi citizens to sign up for access.

Saudi citizens can access the website at tawasol.royalcourt.gov.sa.
