Saudi-Bahraini Navy Maneuvers Week after Gulf Shield 1 Maneuvers - ASHARQ AL-AWSAT English Archive

Riyadh- Less than one week after Gulf Shield 1 maneuvers, performed by the Royal Saudi Navy in the Arabian Gulf waters, Oman Sea and the strategic Strait of Hurmuz, the royal Saudi and Bahraini navies started on Sunday joint maneuvers in Shaikh Salman port in Bahrain named “Bridge 17”.

“The exercise aims at enhancing fighting abilities and professional performance in all navy operations, uniting tactical concepts of command and control, reinforcing procedures of navy battles’ management and contributing in protecting regional waters and combatting any aggression,” said commanding officer of the flag bearer ship, Commodore Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Saleh in a statement.

Pointing out the importance of this exercise, he added that the exercise embodies constructive security and cooperation between the two countries, to raise the efficiency and security of combat and the sense of the two nations, in the light of their needs of cadres and sophisticated equipment, and the need to share experiences of training, proficiency of technical combat and informatics.
