Saudi Arabia’s Humanitarian Aid to Yemen Exceeds $584 Million | ASHARQ AL-AWSAT English Archive 2005 -2017

Riyadh – Since its inauguration by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in 2015, King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid (KSRELIEF) has funded 123 humanitarian projects in Yemen, with a total value of $ 584 million, while the number of partners in the programs reached 81.

Humanitarian projects, including food security, sheltering, camp management and coordination, have targeted 20 million beneficiaries with a total value of $238 million. Those were distributed on 44 projects, which were implemented in coordination with 24 local and international partners.

KSRELIEF noted that 16 other projects covered the field of education, protection and early recovery program, with a total value surpassing $78 million, which benefited nearly four million persons, while the number of partners reached 12.

In health, nutrition, water and environmental sanitation, the Center has provided 53 projects exceeding to $211 million, which benefited nearly 28 million persons, while partners in this field reached have 42.

As for communications in emergency cases, logistics projects, support and coordination of humanitarian operations, the Center has allocated 10 projects that targeted 15,657 persons through four partners, with a value exceeding $56 million.

It is worth mentioning that KSRELIEF has been praised by heads of states, leaders of community and international and regional organizations working in the fields of relief and humanitarian services, as well as visitors to the Center, who commended its ways of providing professional services through specialized teams in this field.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has topped the world in the size of international assistance, with an average of 1.9% of its gross national income.
