Riyadh – General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection reported Tuesday that temperature is expected to reach 42 to 45C during the day in central and east of Saudi Arabia and could exceed 50C in west of al-Khafji.

The General Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Protection reported that a total of 12 Saudi cities were over 40 degrees on Tuesday.

According to a source at the general authority, the temperature in Dammam reached 46 degrees and in Wadi al-Dawasir, Rafhaa and Sharourah it reached 41 degrees. In Al-Ula and Yanbu the temperature reached 43 degrees. The temperature in al-Ahsa reached 45 degrees and in Jeddah it reached 38 degrees.

The authority recommended citizens to drink a lot of water and to stay in air conditioned places. Field workers were also advised to avoid over exposure to direct sunlight as much as possible.

Gulf countries are experiencing a non-precedent heatwave where the temperature might reach up to 52C. Weather forecasts expect the temperatures to reach 55C in the coming two months accompanied by wind and dust.
