Riyadh – Sweden’s Prime Minister Stefan Lovfen expressed interest in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, stressing that such plans and programs would lead to development and economic stability.

He added that an agreement was reached between his country and Saudi Arabia to hold regular political deliberations on bilateral, regional and international issues, and announced the creation of a joint Saudi-Swedish Committee for Economic and Industrial Cooperation.

In a statement issued on Monday at the end of his official visit to Saudi Arabia, Lovfen lauded the outcome of his meeting with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, stressing that discussions focused on means to promote and consolidate bilateral relations, in addition to the situation in Yemen and Syria and challenges facing the region.

Lovfen added that talks with the Saudi King also touched on the peace process in the Middle East and the need to revamp the role of the United Nations to achieve world peace and security.

“The Swedish Prime Minister expressed interest in the Kingdom Vision 2030 plans and programs it included, in order to realize development and economic stability in the Kingdom,” the statement said.

“The two sides discussed a notion of setting up a joint Saudi-Swedish committee for economic and industrial cooperation, based on the General Agreement on Cooperation between the Government of the Kingdom of Sweden and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on 17/01/2004, in order to bolster bilateral relations between the two countries, in many joint fields and domains,” the statement added.

The Swedish prime minister expressed deep appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality accorded to him and the accompanying delegation during his visit.
