Saudi King meets Sudanese President/SPA


Riyadh – Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud held talks in Riyadh Monday with Sudan’s President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir.

During the talks, the two men discussed means of enhancing bilateral relations in various fields and reviewed the developments on regional and international arenas.

Later, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and President Al-Bashir attended the signing ceremony of a framework memorandum of understanding on the Kingdom’s grant to finance a project for providing drinking water in Sudanese rural areas.

The framework memorandum of understanding was co-signed by Vice President and Managing Director of Saudi Fund for Development Eng. Yousef bin Ibrahim Al-Bassam and Sudanese Minister of State and Director of the President’s Office Taha Osman Al-Hussein.

Al-Bashir arrived in Riyadh on Monday on an official visit to Saudi Arabia.

At King Salman Airbase Airport, the Sudanese president was received by Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region – and a number of officials.

Later, the Saudi King held a luncheon banquet in honor of President Al-Bashir and the accompanying delegation.

Also on Monday, King Salman had also received Counter-terrorism Coordinator in the European Union Gilles de Kerchove and an accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, they reviewed aspects of cooperation between the Kingdom and the European Union and international efforts being exerted to combat terrorism.

Meanwhile, the King sent a written message to Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, inviting him to attend the opening ceremony of the national festival for heritage and culture (Al-Janadriya 31) and the annual camel race on the fringes of the festival.

The message was delivered by Dr. Abdulaziz bin Ibrahim Al-Fayez, Saudi ambassador to Kuwait, during an audience held for him at Bayan palace on Monday.
