Jeddah – Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, who is also the chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee, issued a ban on the use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for cooking purposes at the holy sites during this year’s Hajj season, including at governmental buildings and camps.

Crown Prince directed the responsible government agencies to follow the decisions and penalize anyone who brings LPG to Mina, Arafat or Muzdalifa, whether he belonged to one of the Hajj groups, a government member or one of the volunteers participating in Hajj.

Director General of Civil Defense Gen. Suleiman al-Amr said that the execution of the decision comes in coordination with all security forces to ensure there is no LPG inside the holy cities.

He added that search and security teams will carry out inspections inside camps and buildings to make sure there are no LPG tanks or cylinders.

If any was found, they will confiscate LPG cylinders and impose penalties on those responsible for bringing them.

This year, Saudi Arabia has announced that it is fully prepared to receive and serve pilgrims, with more than 2,600 seasonal workers taking part in the Hajj program, in addition to volunteers.
