Riyadh – Saudi security authorities have apprehended a Saudi national accused of plotting with Iran to instigating sectarian strife and threatening national social stability.

The man, who identified himself as a businessman, was sentenced by the Saudi court to six years in prison and banned from leaving the country.

The sentence was issued on the basis of contacting several people to ask for support against the Saudi kingdom.

The man also met with the Iranian Consul in Jeddah and acquired several entry visas to Iran where he discussed with a religious authority the so-called Islamic Caliphate.

The convict established a TV channel called “One Nation” which he personally funded. The channel aims at instigating hatred and sectarianism as well as plotting against the Kingdom.

He also sent on social media a number of instigating statements which stated the dates and places to carry out protests against the government in an attempt to create chaos and destabilize the social fabric of the Saudi community.

He also contacted a number of young men who belong to the so-called Tajdeed Party of Palestine.

The court decided to imprison the convict to six years and banned him from travelling abroad for a similar duration.
