Rome- Saudi Arabia’s Information and Culture Minister Dr. Awwad al-Awwad has said that Qatar supports terrorism and has financed extremist terrorist groups such as al-Qaeda, ISIS, Nusra Front, the Muslim Brotherhood and “Hezbollah”, and has even hosted Taliban on its territory.

In statements made to Italian newspaper La Repubblica, Awwad said that Saudi Arabia has a commitment towards correcting the gap caused by supporting terrorism and extremism in the regime after “Qatar has supported terrorism and created a negative environment that has increased the security danger to the region and has become a threat to the security and stability of the Gulf States and the neighboring countries because of the continuous support of terrorism and funding terrorist organizations throughout the Arab world and the Gulf region.”

The minister affirmed that Doha backed and funded terrorist extremist groups such as al-Qaeda, ISIS, Nusra Front, the Muslim Brotherhood and “Hezbollah”, and even hosted Taliban on its territory.

“Al Jazeera is a political subversion project aimed at crushing security and destroying stability. It is the marketing arm of Qatar’s hostile agenda that uses defamation and fabrication and legitimizes terror groups. The channel is openly hostile and derides us even in the slightest detail,” he added.

Awwad cotninued that Al Jazeera is an evil machine for spreading fake news and it has been used by groups, including al-Qaida, ISIS and “Hezbollah”.

“We have been since 1996 following Al Khobar Tower bombing very strict about combating terrorism. Terrorist attacks have killed hundreds in the kingdom. We reject the claim that we support religious violence and extremism and we ask those who make such claims to show the evidence. Anyone who can present proof against terrorists will be truly helping us to apply the law against terrorists,” the Saudi minister added.
