Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Chairs Cabinet’s Session (SPA)

Riyadh – Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet reiterated its continued support to Palestinian refugees, stressing that assisting refugees was a religious and humanitarian duty.

The Cabinet also voiced its support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees “UNRWA” in its efforts to achieve humanitarian objectives and work to provide care to more than five million Palestinians.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, chaired the Cabinet’s session at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh on Monday.

King Salman briefed the Cabinet on the phone call he made to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on winning the presidential elections. The King said he expressed the Kingdom’s aspirations to enhance historical and strategic relations with the United States and to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East and the world.

He also briefed the Cabinet on the results of his meeting with the Chairman of U.S. Joint Chief of Staff, General Joseph Dunford, with whom he discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation and recent developments in the region.

The Cabinet valued the statement issued by the first meeting of the Commission of Economic Affairs and Development of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States, which is aimed at meeting the basic priorities of the Gulf region and facilitating economic cooperation between Arab States.

The Cabinet reviewed a number of issues and latest developments at the regional and international arenas, reiterating the Kingdom’s support to Palestinian refugees “as it believes it as a religious and human duty”, and its support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees “UNRWA” to achieve its humanitarian objectives and continue its work to provide care to more than five million Palestinians, as the Kingdom tops the list of main donors.
