Jeddah-Saudi Arabia has expressed its condemnation regarding the decision of Israeli authorities to allow the construction of 770 new housing units in occupied East Jerusalem within the framework of the continued aggression against the State of Palestine, targeting the Palestinian existence and dismembering its unity.

This denunciation came on Monday as Vice Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Prince Mohammed bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the Cabinet’s session at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah.

The Cabinet renewed the Kingdom’s calls for intensifying efforts at all levels to fight terrorism and extremism in its security, military, financial and intellectual aspects.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef briefed the Cabinet on the results of the meetings between the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques with King Mohammed VI of Morocco, President of Sudan Omar al-Bashir, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and the U.S. President Envoy for the International Alliance against ISIS Brett McGurk.

Following the session, Saudi Minister of Culture and Information Adel al-Turaifi explained that the Cabinet has welcomed the declaration of Nouakchott and resolutions issued at the conclusion of the 27th Arab summit in Mauritania.

He expressed his thanks and appreciation for Mauritania’s government and people, stressing the Kingdom’s assurances before the summit that what is being witnessed in the region and the world of confronting violent extremism and sporadic terrorist acts poses a threat to the Arabs, the nations and international peace and security.

Regarding the situation in Yemen, al-Turaifi said that the Cabinet has stressed the statement’s clarification issued by the Command of the Coalition in response to what has been circulated on media quoting a number of non-governmental relief and human rights organizations containing fallacies about health conditions in Yemen and their underestimating of the Coalition’s efforts; in addition to its positive role in the entry of humanitarian aid to the brotherly Yemeni people.

Moreover, the Cabinet confirmed that Houthis and followers of Ali Saleh’s agreement on forming a political council in Yemen is considered as a step to put obstacles in the way to reach a political agreement to end the sufferings of the Yemeni people.

He said it is a clear violation of the resolutions of the Arab League, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, United Nations Security Council Resolution 2216 and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)’s initiative, its executive mechanism and the outputs of the comprehensive national dialogue.

Al-Turaifi said that the Cabinet reviewed the topics on the agenda, including subjects discussed by Shura Council and issued several resolutions.

The Cabinet approved a cooperation agreement in the field of countering cross-border crimes between the Government of Saudi Arabia and the Government of the United Mexican States, which was signed in Riyadh.

The Cabinet also approved a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of cultural heritage, museums, architectural heritage, crafts and handicrafts between the General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Peru, which was signed in Lima.
