Saudi King arrives in Japan/SPA


Tokyo, Riyadh- Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud kicked off on Sunday his official visit to Japan.

The King was received at Haneda International Airport by Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan, Saudi Ambassador to Tokyo Ahmed Younis al-Barrak, and members of the Saudi mission.

The royal visit to Japan includes a rich schedule of bilateral talks between the King and Japanese high-ranking officials.

King Salman is scheduled to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Monday and Emperor Akihito on Tuesday.

Barrak said the Saudis and Japanese sides are expected to sign a number of memoranda in the fields of economy, trade, investment, science, culture and health to enhance cooperation between both countries.

For his part, Japanese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Norihiro Okuda welcomed the “important” visit of the Saudi King to Japan to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries.

The King is on a month-long tour to Asia, which has already taken him to Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia.

After Japan, King Salman is scheduled to visit China and the Maldives.

Before arriving to Japan on Sunday, King Salman concluded his official visit to Indonesia, where he received early Sunday Retno Marsudi, Indonesia’s Foreign Minister.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques expressed pleasure for his visit to Indonesia, hoping that its results will contribute to the development of cooperation between the two countries for the welfare and benefit of the two states and the two brotherly peoples in various fields.

King Salman also received a phone call from Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo who expressed his satisfaction with the results of the King’s visit.
