Kuala Lumpur – Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz said that his country stands behind Islamic causes across the world.

Speaking during a banquet held in his honor by King of Malaysia, Sultan Mohammed V, the Saudi King said: “We confirm that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stands with all its might behind the Islamic causes in general and we are fully ready for assistance and cooperation with your sisterly country regarding any effort or movement that serves Muslims’ issues.”

“I would like to express to Your Majesty our thanks to and appreciation of the Government and sisterly people of Malaysia for warm welcome and generous hospitality,” King Salman said, praising high level cooperation between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia in all fields.

Addressing the banquet, Sultan Mohammed V welcomed the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, hailing profound bilateral relations between the two brethren countries.

King Salman started Sunday a month-long Asian tour to boost economic and cultural ties. His visit will include Indonesia, Brunei, Japan, China, the Maldives and Jordan “to meet with the leaders of those countries to discuss bilateral relations and regional and international issues of common concern,” a royal court statement carried by Saudi Arabia’s state media SPA reported.

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak received the Saudi King upon his arrival at Kuala Lumpur’s airport.

The King was then escorted in a large official convoy for a state ceremony at Malaysia’s parliament grounds.

The leader was greeted in parliament with a 21-gun salute, local media reported.

Following the ceremony, King Salman signed on the visitors’ record, writing the following remarks: “It is my pleasure, on the occasion of our visit to the sisterly Kingdom of Malaysia, to express thanks to the King of Malaysia King Mohammed V for generous reception and hospitality, hoping that the outcomes of this visit shall deepen relations binding our two fraternal countries and peoples, to best serve our anticipations and mutual interests.”
