Riyadh – Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz received a telephone call on Thursday from United States Secretary of State, Rex W. Tillerson, reported the state-owned news agency SPA.

During the telephone conversation, King Salman congratulated Tillerson on his appointment as U.S. Secretary of State.

For his part, Secretary of State Tillerson commended the leading role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, particularly in achieving regional and international peace and stability.

Tillerson stressed on the importance of working with the Kingdom, developing a comprehensive plan to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation both military and counter-terrorism efforts, and strengthening economic ties.

The two sides reviewed historic and strategic relations between the two countries, and ways to develop them to serve the common interests of both countries.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior also received the Algerian ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmed Abdel-Saduq.

At the reception, the Algerian ambassador relayed greetings of Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince and the Deputy Crown Prince.

Ambassador Abdul-Saduq also conveyed Bouteflika’s wishes for the Saudi people on further progress and prosperity.

On his part, the Crown Prince extended his greetings and appreciation to Bouteflika and his wishes on further progress and prosperity for the people of Algeria.

During the meeting, issues of common interest between the two countries were discussed.
