Saudi Royal figures, family members and officials lay to rest Prince Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, SPA


Makkah- Prince Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, who headed a body that helps determine the royal succession, was laid to rest at the “Justice” graveyard in Makkah amid a gathering crowd of royal figures, officials, family and citizens.

King Salman bin Abdulaziz led a funeral prayer for the soul of Prince Mishaal, who died at the age of 93, at the Grand Mosque after Isha prayer on Thursday, reported the Saudi Press Agency SPA.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques had arrived in Makkah accompanied by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, who is also Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense.

King Salman was received by Prince Khalid Al Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of Makkah Region, Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and a number of other princes.

Prince Mishaal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud headed the Allegiance Council, a 28-member body comprising senior members of the ruling Al Saud family, which was set up by the then King Abdullah in 2006 to supervise succession decisions after his death.

On the other hand, Gulf State leaders have sent cables of condolences to the Saudi Royal Court and King Salman.

Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received two cables of condolences from Bahrain’s Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa on the death of Prince Mishaal.

United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Khalifa, Vice President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, also sent their condolences to King Salman over the death of Prince Mishaal.
