International Islamic University in Malaysia Grants Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Honorary Doctorate Degree in Political Science and Outstanding Achievement Award for Serving Islam and Nation (SPA)


Kuala Lumpur –Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz said that Islam called for moderation and tolerance, adding that challenges facing the Muslim world required more cooperation and solidarity among Islamic countries and peoples.

The King received at his residence in the Malaysian capital on Tuesday, Muftis of Malaysian states and a number of Malaysian senior Islamic personalities.

The Saudi monarch noted that campaigns against the Muslim religion were aimed at undermining its moderation and tolerance, stressing the importance of introducing the approach of Islam, which calls for tolerance, moderation and combating extremism and terrorism in all its forms.

Also on Tuesday, the Saudi King met with Malaysian Minister of Defense Hishammuddin Hussein and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, the officials reviewed bilateral relations, prospects of cooperation between the two countries, and the latest developments in the region.

King Salman started Sunday a month-long Asian tour to boost economic and cultural ties. His visit will include – as well as Malaysia – Indonesia, Brunei, Japan, China, the Maldives and Jordan.

The International Islamic University in Malaysia granted the Saudi King on Tuesday an honorary doctorate degree in political sciences for serving Islam and moderation and outstanding achievement award for serving Islam and Muslims.

This came during an official ceremony by the university in Kuala Lumpur.

Upon his arrival, King Salman was received by Sultan Ahmad Shah of Pahang, the Constitutional Head of the International Islamic University in Malaysia, Malaysian Minister of Higher Education Idris Jusoh and a number of officials.

Sultan Ahmad Shah of Pahang stressed that the university was proud of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his great achievements at all levels.

For his part, King Salman stressed that education was an essential pillar for achieving aspirations of Islamic peoples towards progress, prosperity and development.

The monarch also noted that universities in the Islamic World have great responsibility in taking care and rehabilitating the youths, as well as raising awareness on the challenges that surround the Islamic nation.

Also on Tuesday, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques received at his residence in Kuala Lumpur an elite of Saudi students on scholarships in Malaysia and Malaysian students graduated from Saudi universities.
