Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques holds official talks with the President of Philippines (SPA)


Riyadh, Rawdhat Khuraim – Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and President Rodrigo Roa Duterte of Republic of the Philippines attended the signing of several memorandums of understanding that tackled several political and diplomatic fields.

On Tuesday, both leaders held official talks at Rawdhat Khuraim in Riyadh Region. During the meeting, bilateral relations and aspects of cooperation between the two friendly countries and ways of enhancing them in all fields were reviewed and the overall situations at the international arena were discussed.

Following the meeting, an agreement, memorandum of consultation and cooperation program between the governments of both countries were signed.

An agreement in the field of recruiting public laborers between the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Kingdom and the Ministry of Labor and Employment of the Philippines was signed by Saudi Minster of Labor and Social Development Ali bin Nasser al-Ghafis and the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Enrique Manalo on behalf of the Filipino side.

A memorandum of political consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs in the two countries as well as a cooperation program between Prince Saud Al-Faisal Institute for Diplomatic Studies and the Foreign Service Institute of the Philippines were singed by Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nizar bin Obaid Madani and the acting Pilipino FM Enrique Manalo.

The meeting and the signing ceremonies were attended by Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region; Prince Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Minister of National Guard; Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense; Musaed bin Mohammed al-Aiban, minister of state and member of the cabinet; Abdulaziz al-Assaf, minister of state and member of the cabinet; Adel bin Zaid al-Toraifi, minister of culture and information; Mohammed bin Abdullah al-Jadaan, minister of finance, Ali bin Nasser al-Ghafis, minister of labor and social development, who services as guide minister of the visiting delegation; Nizar bin Obaid Madani, minister of state for foreign affairs; and Abdullah bin Nasser al-Baseeri, Saudi ambassador to The Philippines.

On the Filipino side, the event was attended by the President’s accompanying delegation.

Earlier on Tuesday, King Salman received President Duterte in Riyadh. He was also received by Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region. The President was received in an official ceremony where the national anthems of the two countries were played, and he reviewed the guard of honor.

The Custodian held a luncheon banquet in honor of the Philippines’ President and his accompanying delegation.

The reception and the banquet were attended by a number of princes, ministers and senior officials.

In addition, Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense, held a meeting with President Duterte at Rawdhat Khuraim.

During the meeting, the current bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them in all fields were reviewed in addition to a number of issues of mutual concern.

The meeting was attended by Musaed bin Mohammed al-Aiban, minister of state and member of the cabinet; Ali bin Nasser al-Ghafis, minister of labor and social development, who services as guide minister of the visiting delegation; Ahmed al-Khateeb, Consultant at the Secretariat General of the Cabinet; Nizar bin Obaid Madani, minister of state for foreign affairs; Fahd al-Isa, Consultant at the Royal Court and supervisor general of the defense minister’s office; Yasser al-Ramyan, Consultant at the Secretariat General of the Cabinet and the Filipino President’s accompanying delegation.

President Duterte received at his residence Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir. During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations and discussed the latest developments in the region.

Jubeir also met with Philippines’ acting Foreign Minister Enrique Manalo. During the meeting, the two reviewed bilateral relations and discussed issues of common interest.
