Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Graces Saudi-Chinese Investment Forum (SPA)

Beijing -The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz met with the Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in Beijing, China. The talks held by the two leaders addressed strategic cooperation between their countries.

The Kingdom is working diversifying its economy through achieving the Vision 2030 national transformation plan.

In his speech, King Salman said that the economic transformation his country and China are experiencing will provide great chances of reinforcing their bilateral ties.

King Salman praised the considerable efforts spent by the Saudi-Chinese committee working to bolster and develop existing ties further.

The monarch expressed his anticipation for the strategic cooperation shared by the two countries in backing international efforts on fighting extremism and terrorism, enacting peace and stability for both countries.

King Salman said that talks held with the Chinese Premier had focused on economy, along discussions on numerous topics.

Later in his visit, King Salman also met with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Zhang Dejiang. King Salman and Chairman Dejiang discussed international peace efforts, particularly concerning the Palestinian cause.

King Salman unveiled the King Abdulaziz Public Library at Peking University, which in turn granted him an honorary doctorate.

Upon arrival, the king was received by Chinese Education Minister Chen Baosheng and a number of officials.

The university president delivered a speech in which he welcomed King Salman, saying the library opening enhances bilateral relations.

The monarch watched a documentary film about the library and its role in publishing scientific and cultural literature in various languages.

He delivered a speech in which he expressed pleasure at visiting Peking University, and thanked it for the honorary doctorate.

“I seized the opportunity to assert the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s interest in science and knowledge. Science is the foundation of nations’ renaissance and progress,” King Salman said.

“I am pleased to launch the King Abdulaziz Public Library at this prestigious university. I call for further cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and China in various fields of scientific research, serving the two countries and peoples,” he added.

“I thank you. I hope that this occasion will contribute in enhancing relations between the two countries in various fields, particularly science and culture.”
