Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques receives US Secretary of State (SPA)


Riyadh – Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz discussed with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Sunday the latest developments in the region and cooperation in fighting extremism and terrorism.

King Salman received Kerry and his accompanying delegation at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh.

During the meeting, the officials discussed the latest developments in the region and reviewed bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting was attended by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior; Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir and United States Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Joseph Westphal, as well as other officials.

Also on Sunday, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz met with Kerry, who is currently on an official visit to Saudi Arabia.

Discussions during the meeting touched on the means to promote bilateral relations in various fields, mainly in security and the fight against all forms of terrorism and extremism.

Officials also discussed the latest developments in the Middle East and the efforts exerted to find a peaceful solution to the ongoing crises.

Kerry and Jubeir later held a joint news conference, during which they presented both countries’ views on latest developments, in particular the situation in Yemen and Syria.

On a different note, King Salman met on Sunday with the Chief of Pakistan’s Army, General Qamar Javed Bajwa and his accompanying delegation.

The Saudi King expressed his warm welcome to General Bajwa, with whom he discussed bilateral relations and strategic partnerships between the two countries.

The Saudi crown prince attended the meeting, along with Minister of State and Cabinet Member Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban; Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Adel bin Zaid Altoraifi; Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir, and Pakistani Ambassador to the Kingdom Manzoor Al-Haq.
