Jeddah- Custodian of Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz has called for holding a Saudi-African Summit by the end of this year or early 2018, reported the Saudi Interior Ministry.

Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir delivered a speech infront of the African Summit – held in Addis Ababa on Tuesday – and announced King Salman’s call to hold a Saudi-African summit.

In May, Saudi Arabia hosted the Arab American Islamic Summit, which was attended by US President Donald Trump during his visit to the Kingdom and the leaders and heads of dozens of Arab and Islamic countries.

The summit focused on fighting extremist ideology and halting the financing of terrorism.

In a related matter, King Salman discussed with German Chancellor Angela Merkel the developments in the region and world during a phone-call.

He also received on Tuesday a cable of condolences from Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al Sabah in which he expressed Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the terrorist attack in Qatif.

The emir reiterated that Kuwait stands by the Kingdom and supports all measures being taken by it to confront terrorism and preserve its security. Sheikh Sabah renewed his country’s rejection of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

The Custodian of Two Holy Mosques also received cables of condolences from Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, crown prince of Kuwait, and Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, prime minister of Kuwait, in which they offered their sincere condolences on the martyrdom of the security officer.

Bahrain also strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the security patrol in Qatif governorate. In a statement, the Foreign Ministry affirmed Bahrain’s stand with Saudi Arabia and its support of all its measures to consolidate security and stability, as well as its steadfast efforts and leading role in enhancing security and promoting peace in the region and the world as well.
