Riyadh – Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz received at Al-Yamamah Palace the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres.

King Salman and Guterres reviewed the U.N. efforts and its mission to achieve international peace and security. The King congratulated Guterres on assuming his new job, wishing him success, while Guterres expressed his delight to visit the Kingdom and meet the King.

The reception was attended by Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Naif, deputy premier and minister of interior; Minister of State and Cabinet member Ibrahim Al-Assaf; Minister of State, Cabinet member and Chief of Royal Court Khalid Al-Issa; Minister of Culture and Information Adel Al-Turaifi and others.

Also, Crown Prince emphasized that the Kingdom will continue to support the U.N. efforts to achieve global peace and security, when he received Guterres at his office in Riyadh on Sunday. They discussed regional and international developments, the peace process in the region and the U.N. efforts to settle peace in conflict zones in the world.

Guterres praised the Kingdom’s support to the U.N. in its efforts to accomplish global peace as well as its humanitarian assistance to refugees.

Furthermore, Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, second deputy premier and minister of defense, met the U.N. Secretary General – they discussed latest updates in the Middle East including the Syrian and Yemeni crises along with the Saudi efforts to restore security and stability in the region and to back the U.N. efforts.

Guterres commended the role of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, as he and his accompanying delegation visited the center later on Sunday.
