Saudi Ministry of Justice (1)

Riyadh-Saudi Ministry of Justice announced launching a fund for Saudi women as as part of the ministry’s initiatives in the National Transformation Program 2020, which aims at allocating funds to those worthy of funding until the court decides on their filed cases.

The ministry explained that the fund allocates those worthy of being spent on in two cases. The first lies in providing financial support for the woman and her children as much as they need during the period when the court looks into the divorce case up till it is resolved. Then, the husband starts providing his family with the required expenses added to all what the court has paid from the fund in addition to providing needed financial support to help the woman spend on her children if the husband is not capable of paying his due expenses.

The second lies in providing financial support for the family in case neither the woman nor the man was capable of spending on the children.

The ministry noted that it aims through this fund at activating the institutional social role played by the ministry and establishing sustainable fund, which contributes to improving the quality of living and ensuring decent living for women.

It further noted that not providing the necessary financial support for the mother and her children during the litigation in divorce cases will affect the mother’s ability to provide her children with decent living in case no one from her family members was able to help her.

The fund will not only depend on government’s support, but it will also depend on activating the role of the community and charities in addition to finding different support outlets in the future in order to guarantee its sustainability and ability to serve the largest possible number of cases that require backing.
