Pakistani Prime Minister receives Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (SPA)


Islamabad, Jeddah-Deputy Crown Prince, Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz met on Sunday with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad, during an official visit that will also include China and Japan.

The Saudi and Pakistani officials discussed during the meeting the strong bilateral relations between the Kingdom and Pakistan and latest developments on the Islamic and international arenas.

Prince Mohammed arrived in Pakistan earlier on Sunday under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and in response to an invitation by the Pakistani government.

Upon his arrival at Jorgan Air Base in Islamabad, the deputy crown prince was greeted by Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, senior Pakistani military leaders and Saudi diplomats in Pakistan. Prince Mohammed was heading a delegation of Saudi ministers and senior officials.

The deputy crown prince will meet a number of Pakistani officials before heading to Beijing on a three-day official visit, during which he will hold talks with high-ranking officials.

Chinese and Japanese banks are expected to play key roles in the Kingdom’s development of the non-oil sector.

The deputy crown prince will then head to Japan, where he will sign a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoU). He will also meet with Japan’s Emperor Akihito and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Talks in Beijing and Tokyo will focus on the current oil market situation, bilateral cooperation to boost relations in all economic fields.

From Japan, Prince Mohammed returns to China, where he will lead Saudi Arabia’s official delegation to the G20 11th economic summit, which will be held in Hangzhou on September 4-5.

The event embodies an international forum bringing together governments and central bank governors from 20 major economies and aims at studying, reviewing, and promoting high-level discussion of policy issues pertaining to the promotion of international financial stability.

Prince Mohammed will brief the leaders taking part in the G20 summit on Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the Kingdom’s goals aimed at diversifying its income sources away from the oil-based industry.
