Custodian of Two Holy Mosques Congratulates Lebanese President on his Election - ASHARQ AL-AWSAT English Archive

Riyadh– Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz sent a cable on Tuesday congratulating the newly elected Lebanese President Michel Aoun.

King Salman reiterated that Saudi Arabia stands in solidarity with the unity of Lebanon, wishing the country stability and progress and the Lebanese people prosperity.

The King said: “We are pleased for your election as president of Lebanon and we send you on behalf of the people and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and in our name congratulations and best wishes for good health and happiness to your excellency, and to the brotherly people of the Republic of Lebanon progress and prosperity.”

“We wish your excellency every success in your mission to achieve stability for your brotherly country, praising the brotherly relations between our two brotherly countries and peoples, and we look forward to developing them in various fields for the benefit of the two countries,” he added.

Similarly, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, has sent a congratulatory cable to Aoun.

The Crown Prince said: “I am happy for your election as President of the Lebanese Republic and I express to your excellency my most sincere congratulations and best wishes for health and happiness and more progress and prosperity for the brotherly people of the Republic of Lebanon.”

Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, has also sent a congratulatory cable to Aoun.

The Deputy Crown Prince said: “It is my pleasure on the occasion of your election as President of the Lebanese Republic to convey to Your Excellency heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for health and happiness and further development and prosperity for the brotherly people of the Republic of Lebanon.”

The Lebanese parliament elected Aoun as president on Monday, ending a political standoff that has left the post vacant for over two years.
