Riyadh- Saudi Scholars stated that takfir accusations, the act of declaring someone as kafir (non-believer), have become a misconception that results in various damages. They also affirmed that only Allah can determine this, given that suspicion is not sufficient to make such judgments.

The Council of Senior Scholars announced its decisions on its Twitter account. The statement said that making governments a target of these accusations is even more dangerous because this encourages bloodshed, chaos and holding weapons.

The values of Islam reject terrorism and extremism, stressed the Council of Senior Scholars.

The council added that the bloodshed and bombings targeting residential areas in some countries are a criminal act and have nothing to do with Islam.

The decisions of the Council of Senior Scholars, the official religious institution in Saudi Arabia, were meant to combat takfir, which is classified as the main reason for murders and terrorism.

Some Islamic movements are using takfir as an excuse to carry out killings, according to the statement.

All extremist groups mainly rely on takfir accusations to target security officers and carry out assassinations and bombings.

Terrorist organizations address the youth via religious speeches inspired by religious figures known for their corruption. ISIS went further in accusing Arab regimes of takfir and increasing grudges against Western countries.

Current events show that terrorist groups are based on widening the circle of takfir to include Muslims, exploiting the Islamic concepts and raising doubts about them. They are also founded on creating the concept of jihad to kill the innocent and to target mosques.
